| Yutaka Kobayashi was born in Tokyo, Japan. Since receiving his Master of Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design, New York in 1991. Kobayashi's work has been shown in numerous exhibitions in New York and through out Japan including Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial. In addition to ecological, site-specific installations in the USA, Canada, Turkey, Korea, Venezuela and Japan, he has been working in designing and implementing new school and community based art projects. He had received overseas fellowship from the Japanese Ministry of Culture & Education, and an artist-in-residence at Otis College of Art and Design and California College of Arts and Crafts, working with the Center for the Art and Public Life. He is a professor of Fine Arts at University of the Ryukyus in Okinawa, Japan and a member of mayor's urban planning cabinet for the city of Naha. |
